Do you know this unique facet of our hotel? Nestling at the heart of our establishment is a former Jesuit church, an architectural treasure that has been listed since 1985. It makes the Quartier Latin a unique place, not only for its charm but also for its rich and captivating history.

The history of this church dates back to its Jesuit roots in the early 17th century, when members of this religious order from Huy began teaching in Marche-en-Famenne. Their presence gave rise to a prestigious college, housing not only classrooms but also a majestic church.

Built between 1732 and 1740 in a characteristic Baroque style, the church impresses with its facade adorned with brick and bluestone, bearing witness to the architectural elegance of the period.

Over the centuries, the church has undergone a number of transformations, reflecting the evolution of the town itself. From a place of worship to a communal village hall, a communal school, a field hospital and even a fire station, its history is a journey through time.

Today, this former Jesuit church has been given a new lease of life as the centrepiece of our hotel, the Quartier Latin. Purchased by the Houyoux family in 1989, it has been carefully transformed to preserve its historic character, now housing elegant bedrooms, meeting rooms and our brasserie, offering our guests a unique, immersive experience.
